Project: Home Arcade System

For some time I’ve been wanting to work on a project I call the Home Arcade System. A totally home brew gaming system. Basically I would recycle an old laptop or computer and put a bunch of emulators on it and mount it all in a wooden housing. The system would be much like the traditional arcade systems in respect to the housing. It would be booth style with stools sitting in front of the housing. The emulator list would consist of every 100% working emulated system at the time when I build it. I plan to build it in the future but not until I have a place to put it. I have a few sketches I will put up later when I get to a scanner but for now I leave you with that vague mental image.

It will be epic, at least to me since I enjoy playing games that are obsolete, haha.

I’ve got so much music!!!

In case someone has overlooked this, I make music, and I have a collection of samples of my sound on my site! There’s always more to come so stay tuned in! Check out the music: http://neolain.com/noise

Christmas/bday wishes

I’m not a very materialistic person. I’m not saying I don;t enjoy having certain things, what I am saying is I enjoy having a few things and not a lot of things interest me enough to try and get it. I realized a long time ago that objects don’t bring happiness. People bring people happiness. Fulfilling the basic needs makes me happy.

Whenever I want something materialistic I usually make it. Most of the time whne I want something materialistic it isn’t something a normal person would want and most likely is only a small part in a project I would be working on.

I like my computers I build, since I built them and customized them and put my own effort into creating another node for my network. Playing games on my computers also makes me happy.

Let’s see… If someone were to ask me what I want for my bday or christmas I’d probably answer with some variation of “I don’t know.” If someone really wanted to spend some money on me, the domain registration and privacy is about to expire and it would be nice to continue my website under the same domain. I could also use a few upgrades on my computer, such as a faster processor so I can take advantage of my large amount of RAM, as well as some stuff to make my own water cooling system for my computer as fans and heatsinks just don’t cut it these days.

I don’t need anything and I won’t feel bad if I don’t get anything for christmas either but I don’t want to spend my christmas sitting around watching my sisters open present after present only to find out that I was only thought of in the underwear isle of the department store where all those toys came from. For that same reason I’ll most likely spend my christmas away from home, because I don’t want to have to deal with the humiliation of sitting there with a pair of socks and boxers while my sisters are having trouble keeping track of how many presents they got. I don’t know where yet, if you have an idea talk to me.

Getting the Microsoft MN-730 Working in Windows 7 64bit

I’ve been having issues with the Microsoft MN-730 PCI wireless network adapter ever since I got it, and the problem is usually with the OS not the card itself. It seems Microshit discontinued this card years ago but for what reason I do not know. It’s a good card for hoe use, no problems other than installing it.

So in Windows 7 64bit you need the chipset drivers for this card which can be found here. When you install the card in Windows 7 you need to right click on Computer, then select manage. Then you go to the device manager and right click on the network adapter in unknown devices and select update driver. In the driver wizard select that you want to find drivers yourself and then select to choose from a list of manufacturers. Scroll down to the Broadcom manufacturer then select “Have Disk” and navigate to the folder you have the chipset drivers in. Then Select “Broadcom 802.11 a/b/g” and click next. As long as you have the correct files (link above) ths should work whether it’s 64bit or 32bit.

Happy hacking.

That kind of person

She’s the kind of person that pretends to be who she isn’t.

She pretends she is mature, but that in itself is really immature.

She’s the kind of person who offers you a gift, then later on demands that you pay it back.

She’s the kind of person who manipulates people when she doesn’t get her way.

She likes to play mind games with your head, and when you call her out she’s innocent again.

And worst of all she will pretend to be your friend and eventually turn on you.

That’s the kind of person she is.

Cigarettes and Cutting: a Comparison of Two Stupid Things

It has dawned upon me that cigarettes are a widely used substance that people use for coping. However it seems stupid to me that you can legally kill yourself slowly with a plant that doesn’t give you any actual useful effects. It’s like the world’s razor cutting away at the citizens lungs.

Let’s do a side-by-side comparison of the good qualities of cigarettes and cutting.

… Oh wait, I just remembered; there aren’t any.

Now let’s compare the bad effects.

Cigs burn your lungs and do serious damage to your throat and lungs, cutters cut themselves and damage themselves on the outside. They sound like they do the same thing to me in that respect. Cigarettes calm people when they feel anxious, however not having one makes you more anxious. Cutters cut themselves to feel free of emotional pain. Hmm… So cigarette smokers and cutters are both using bad habits to cope with generally the same thing; life. The only difference is one of those things you don’t get thrown into the loony bin for doing.

I don’t know about anyone else but it makes no sense to me to allow people to smoke cigarettes and then prohibit any other form of self-mutilation, because that’s all your really doing when you smoke, you’re hurting your body.
