I hate being smart. I love being a genious. I hate knowing hte outcome of something long befor eit even happens and knwong that I can’t stop it. You can only conrtol fate to a degree. Nothing hurts more than living, yet nothing feels as invigoration as living. Living is taking chances for what you believe in and hoping for the best.

I want peace on earth. I want everyone to be each other’s friend. I also want some books to educate myself and to entertain myself. I don’t expect anyone to buy me or spawn me presents. I learned a long time ago that Santa does not exist. I have what I want for christmas and I just want to keep it.

I have an awesome fiance, an awesome roomie, a ton of great friends and I have a plan that is holding steady. I don’t want anything really. Money would be great if you can’t bear to suprise me with something I probably won’t want/care about. I really do hate saying I love the present someone got me when I don’t. I don’t like lying. So please just give me money or a Wii with an extra Wii controller and nunchuck and Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Wii Play so I can share an awesome gift with the world by sharing and playing with my friends.

Oh and I want more kisses from Emmy.

Why is the open source community so enthusiastic about Linux and other open source projects and software? Well, I have a hard time explaining why without aids to help in the discussion so I have put together a video watch list that anyone who is interested in linux and the open source community should watch.

A great video is Revolution OS. It tells about the founding of linux and the open source movement. The video can be watched on google video here: Click to Watch and the website is http://www.revolution-os.com/

Another is (if you can understand swedish) The Code Linux which is also viewable on google video. If someone has found an english subbed version of this video, it would be greatly appreciated if you could tell me about it.

For now that is my list so far, but I will be adding more as I discover more good videos.

Well we all know that the internet is growing. Which means more suckers to sucker into advertisements and fake get-rich-quick schemes. C’mon people, you should understand there is no successful get-rich-quick scheme except to steal which is illegal. Do not steal. The adverts are stealing your money and your time and making your websurfing less enjoyable.

So how should we deal with this? Hmm… Let’s try cancelling our internet account because we think the adverts are trying to kill us? (I have heard this actually happeneing. As well as someone deleting the internet icons and thinking the internet account was “deleted.” … Idiots…)

Well I have discovered a solution. I was surfing the advert-filled web and stumbled upon a list of every (or most) advert urls in a well organized hosts file. A hosts file is basically a file that tells the computer what to look for when you type in a url.

So I copied the hosts file into my own hosts file and viola! Ad free internet! But now I have some ugly message where all the ads were supposed to be saying page not found because it is trying to connect to my loopback interface (my computer). So to solve that I installed apache2 and edited the default index.html page to have nothing at all in it. This way I just get empty spaces.

The hosts file: http://someonewhocares.org/hosts/

The usual spot for the hosts file in linux is: /etc/hosts

And for windows hosts file, just read this: http://vlaurie.com/computers2/Articles/hosts.htm

Last night at 12:30AM my grandmther passed away. She meant a lot to me. Still does. She taught me manners and how to be a good person. I love her.

It feels like a bad dream I cannot wake up from. I want to just wake up, walk down the street and take her out to do her errands again.

It was so sudden too. I was never prepared for it. I didn’t really have anything I Wanted to tell her before she passed away besides I love her.

She died from cancer. My grandfather also died from cancer a while back while I was younger.

Death is strange and saddening.

I started out hating this girl because she was so negative and at the time so was I. Time went by though and she showed me how smart she is, and how awesome she can be. A lot of the time I see her as a little sister, I genuinely care about her as if she was my own blood and would welcome her to my home as if she was as well. We always talk abotu our lives, shes a good listener and doesn’t try to shove her ideas and beliefs upon me like most people do.

I really do love her as a little sister, she’s there for me when I need her and I’m there for her when she needs me. Even though we started out hating each other, we are really close now.

This is a quick tutorial on how to make a shortcut in your programs menu on Windows Mobile. I don’t have any screenshots, but if someone could take some for each step that would be awesome. This tutorial was made expecting that you know how to navigate using your devices file browser.

1. Open up your file browser
2. Navigate to the program you want to make a shortcut of
3. Select it and go to Edit and select Copy (or if you have a touch screen Windows Mobile device you can hold the stylus down on the programs icon until the right click menu pops up, then select copy)
4. Navigate to the Windows folder in your device
5. While inside the Windows folder look for and go into the “Start Menu” folder
6. While in the Start Menu folder, go into the Programs folder
7. Now go to Edit and select “Paste shortcut” or whatever sounds very much like that (you can alternatively hold your stylus down on an empty space and waiting for the right click menu which you can just select “Paste shortcut”
8. And your done

You can also rename the shortcut by select thing icon and going to edit and selecting rename (or with a stylus just hold the stylus down on the icon and selecting “rename” from the right click menu).

Well everyone, I have to admit. I like making graphics for people. I have made forum signatures and banners for people in the past. Just recently I made a banner for my girlfriend’s LiveJournal. I also have to admit, I love my girlfriend. This is the banner I made for her: This is a link. You should probably click it if you wanna see said banner.

Anyways, I am offering to make anyone who asks to make them something. All you need to do for me is promote my site! That’s right, you scratch my back, I scratch yours. If you want me to make you something, just send the details to my email and subject it “GFX Request.”

Well, I am running out of daytime. Bye now.

Haha, I feel kinda silly. I have been anti-Micro$oft for a while now. Like agisnt their Operating systems, especially since Vista came out because it’s just way too glitchy and doesn’t run well for 80% of the people who have or get it.

Well my new job is A Linux System Administrator at [drum roll]… Microsoft. I know your thinking; “why the hell would Microsoft need a Linux Admin!?” Well Microsoft wants to keep up with the competition so they are working on some interoperability. I’m not sure of the details yet as I haven’t started the job.

The only look I got at the Surface was a video that I previously viewed on the internet. However during the presentation I attended they breifly explained how it works.

Pretty much it has infrared cameras within the table that recognize devices and objects placed on the table. It uses wireless technology (most likely some WiFi and Bluetooth) to connect to devices placed on the table. How will this work for wired-only devices? Possibly USB and Firewire ports?

My visions on the device is that it is an innovation I have longed for my whole life (yes I dreamed of computers when I was 2 years old, in fact that’s when I dreamed of Pocket PC’s and first wanted my own then before I had ever seen a computer). The usefulness of this device has a horribly large area to expand since it’s the only device of it’s kind.

I see this becoming useful in classrooms (in my honest opinion it would greatly benefit classes as well as the technology is used effectively) and in work areas. It would also be a great and fun device to use for board games already existing, not yet existing, and possibly even applications like board game creators could be made for this device.

The practicality of this as a home computer is not high at the moment due to the price (10,000 USD) but I see that it could be a great home entertainment system, and could bring families together to the table once again.

I also see this techinology growing rapidly, and yet I don’t see any competition arising in the near future.

The following are some videos and links I found interesting on the subject of the Surface:
